Turmeric Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 14 chopped onion
  • 1/2 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped sundried tomatoes
  • 2 minced garlic clove
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1/2 tablespoon chicken bullion
  • 1 tablespoon tomato bullion
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic power
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion power
  • 1 chopped jalapeno pepper
  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 bay leaf
  • 1 drop thyme
  • salt and pepper

 

 

Directions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet or saucepan with a lid. Add onion, pepper and sundried tomato. Saute, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft, about 5 minutes.
  • Add rice and stir to mix well; cook for another minute or two. Add liquid, and rest of ingredients . Cover, adjust heat to maintain a simmer, and cook until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender (about 40 minutes for brown, 20 minutes for white). If the rice isn’t tender when the liquid has been absorbed, add a little more liquid and continue simmering for a few minutes.
