About

Texas Tina cooking up something spicy.

A Texas girl gone Caribbean.I traded my cowboy boots for flip flops. I have been living in the Caribbean for over 20 years so from time to time I may add a few Caribbean dishes to the mix.

I am not new to blogging and I am not new to cooking, but this will be my first time to blog about cooking. I have been cooking since I was a little girl. My mother and my dads mom taught me how to cook. I have worked in many restaurants throughout high school and college. I always paid attention as to  what is going on in the kitchen.I always like learning about food and different ways to cook it.

My first job was Sonic. That was when I was still in high school. I also worked at Long John Silver and then at a place called Papa Rollo’s Pizza. I didn’t learn much from the first 2 but Papa Rollo’s Pizza was one of the best places I had ever worked for. I learned a lot about pizza, business and made a lot of friends there.

When I was in college I started working at a place called R-12 cafe. The best home cooking ever. It has since closed down. I still cook several of the meals that we served. Some of my favorites are rice pilaf, stewed cabbage (southern stye), and my own version of broccoli cheese soup. I will be cooking these recipes and many more so stay tuned.

Thanks for reading this and if anyone has anything they would like to share that pertains to food please send your comments. I would love for everyone to share and participate.

Food, food and health, food allergies, ect…

The more we know, the more we can learn, the more we can grow.

The reason I named this blog Cabinet Cooking is because I don’t like to follow recipes. I like to open the cabinet and make it up as I go.

The three main ingredients I start with is onion, garlic, and when needed tomatoes. We will get into that later. Happy Cookin‘.
